Secret Feild Trip

WOW. Today was really really great. We went out past El Centro, not knowing where we where going. I drove in Anne's car and we had a really great time with her. When we pulled up to Salvation Mountain, My first reaction was "That's It??!" That's what we drove 3 hours to see?? It looked like a giant Dr. Suess cartoon.

pictures do not do this place justice.
The creator Lenord Knight, has an emence love for god, and he decided 25 years ago that he was going to show the world that. He created a mountain, caves and trees (shown below) all out of straw, adobe and lot and lots of paint.
It really was like a Dr. Suess book.

Interview

Ok so we have to go out into the art world and interview an artist that makes their money makeing art. Time is running out, we have to have it done by next monday or sooner than that actually.

I think that I might do my sister's best freind's dad, Ric Fiefer.
He is an amazing digital photographer who works both in the commercial world and the art world. He has done many portraits of my family and I. Ric also does digital art, painting and drawing.

Paint and Pigments

So to further our study of art and its place in the world, we are learning about what makes paints what they are. We have been doing a science report about just that.

Basically a pigment is a small dry particle of a certain color that when mixed with the solvent(usally water) and a binder(some kind of oil usually linseed) makes paint. Paint and Pigments have been around for centuries. Anceint civilizations used leaves, berries, and other things to make pigment and water, spit and blood for solvent.

Later in history people began experimenting with differnt things to make pigments. Bugs for example.
